Blog Talk: David Archuleta Edition
Here is our latest Blog Talk. Kaitlin and I had the most fun making this one. If any of you have a teenage daughter - you will appreciate how cool it is to me that Kaitlin is willing to make these with me. I hope you have as much fun watching as we had making it. (Kaitlin wanted me to note that she is wearing a glove on her right hand because of her eczema - it's been acting up because of our recent cold snap )
Good Report and Praiseworthy
This last week was the end of the quarter for our kids. We met with Jared and Ruth's teachers that both gushed about what wonderful students they are. Ruth's teacher especially went on and on about how Ruth has nurtured another girl in the class who suffers from debilitating shyness. I was so proud of Ruth. I told her that I was more happy that she was making good choices than I was about her getting good grades. Kaitlin got a good report card as well and Chaz ended up doing better than we expected.

Kaitlin's play was this week and it was very cute.
The story was about fairy tale characters revolting against their writers because the stories are so unbelievable and their lives are miserable. Kaitlin played the Ugly Step-sister from Cinderella. In the first scene in the video she is at her agents office trying to get a job. In the second scene, Kaitlin steals away Hans Christian Anderson's house keeper to replace Cinderella.
Practices Start
Dance practices started this week for Chaz and Kaitlin who will be part of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Youth Celebration. For more info about this celebration visit: templecelebration.com
Draper Temple Dedication
Everyone except Jared went to the Draper Temple Dedication today. Jared went to a friend's house and played X-box and Wii (the other kids were jealous).

Ruth and I enjoyed a Mother/Daughter day together on Saturday. We went to a Fairy Tea at the Library where my sister works. She has my same talent for organizing events but has taken it to the next level. She runs all the children's events for her city's library. The Fairy tea was a sit down event for about 200 people that included ballet dancers and a Fairy king and his court. All the girls dressed up as fairies. It was fun and Ruth was a really good sport in spite of being way to old for Fairies. My SIL took some pictures and I'll post one when I get them.
Oh so Sick :/
Yes, Kaitlin and I were co-convalescing this week from a nasty sickness that felt like flu but must not have been flu because we got better in a week rather then two or three weeks. We are glad to be up and going now.
"Jared, use words."
On Sunday Jared asked to help with the dinner - but since I was having a personal melt-down on Sunday I told him that he couldn't help. He was so mad that he hit me in the leg. I turned to him and said "Jared, don't hit, use words." (I've probably said something similar to all my children hundreds of times.) He stormed away and then turned around and said "You're a Poo!" He was so mad and I looked at his adorable little face and just bust up laughing! That was totally not what I meant when told him to "use words."
Kaitlin's Play
Kaitlin is in her school play this Thursday and Friday. The play starts at 7:30 and it is free. All are invited.
David Archuleta Count Down
10 days until the David Archuleta Concert. Kaitlin is way excited and I'm a little excited myself. It is so cool to me that my pre-teen daughter likes to hang out with me.

World Cup Speed Skating
This weekend we took the kids to the ISU World Cup Speed Skating Finals. We lasted a whole of an hour before the younger kids were totally board. Watching guys race around the track 12 times just isn't so much fun. But it was an experience at least.
Here is a picture of us at the Speed Skating Oval. (Okay, yeah, so we forgot our camera again.)
"You're Not As Good As That"
This is what Ruth whispered to me at church today. We were in the kids class at church today and they were talking about Mothers and all the great things mothers do. They passed a mic around the room letting the kids say things that their mothers do for them. One kid said that his mother cleaned his room for him. That is when Ruth leaned over and whispered that line to me. You should have seen me holding in my laughter.

Ruth and Jared and I enjoyed a fun free day at the zoo. The whole morning Jared had just one thing on his mind: "when is lunch?"
David Archuleta or Bust
If you follow Kaitlin's blog then you already know that we have tickets to David Archuleta's concert at the E-Center. Because of Kaitlin's fan group we were able to pre-order. It was lucky because the concert sold out in 30 minutes.
