| Scones are the best! |
Jared turned 11 this week. He wanted to share a treat with his class on his birthday, so I brought in 3 cases of Sprite for him to give out. That evening, we celebrated by eating his favorite dinner: homemade chicken soup and tatertots (not homemade). Instead of cake, Jared requested scones (the utah kind) topped with icecream and a candle. He spent the evening playing computer games with a friend.

We've been trying to enjoy every moment of Christmas this year. Because Kaitlin's schedule has been so busy we calendared several evenings just for our family to enjoy together. We've made toffee, chocolate dipped pretzels, peppermint bark and pizzelles.
Ruth sang in her Christmas concert, which was very good. Jared made blankets for the children's hospital and sang carols at school. Kaitlin had several more madrigals performances.

I put on a brunch for some old friends. It's always a treat to visit with them. And then we had my extended family Christmas party on Friday night. It was great fun to get together with my siblings and their families, and my mother.

The shopping is all done and all the presents are wrapped and sitting under the tree. Our Christmas programs are done, for the most part, and all family events are over. For the next few days we will focus on just enjoying Christmas together.

Has Jared requested scones instead of cake before? I seem to remember last year wasn't a traditional cake either.
Kaitlin looks like she was having a lot of fun! And how did you get a picture of the family making treats - were you hanging from the ceiling or standing on a chair?
And I still need your recipe from the brunch - so, so good.
