Plot Twist!

Plot Twist: noun.  1. A change in direction or expected outcome of the plot of a film, novel, computer game, or other form of narration.

We experienced a plot twist this week.  On Monday, Chuck was called into a meeting at work and was told that it was his last day.  His whole team was being laid off effective immediately.  By afternoon he was walking in the door with a cardboard box in his hand.

This was not totally unexpected.  We had firsts heard of potential layoffs a month or two ago and while we felt fairly confident, Chuck had worked there 15 years after all, there was a little niggle.  You know, that little niggle you get at the back of your mind; that "what if" that just won't go away? That is how we felt.   This little niggled just got stronger as the day approached.

So all this week Chuck has been getting his resume and Linkedin up to date.  He has a couple more meetings with eBay's outplacement services and also LDS employment.  Once he gets all his ducks in a row then we will start networking through all our social contacts. So expect an email from us soon, and start keeping your eyes open for jobs for a business analyst.

In the mean time, be assured that we are stable and doing fine financially.  eBay has provided a severance package and we have emergency savings that will last us awhile. We have been blessed by a lifetime of frugal living and no extra debt.  Our only stress is the emotional stress that comes with sudden change and the fear of the unknown.

Benji's Fangirls

This weekend Ruth and I drove down to attend my nephew's final high school drama performance. He played Leonardo in Much Ado About Nothing.   He did a great job, as did all the actors.   We met up with Kaitlin, and my nieces, Amy and Stacy.  The audience was pretty light, so we were the loudest cheering section.  The girls posed afterwards for this fangirl photo.  What a lucky guy to have so many beautiful cousins who love him.

Sorry to hear about the change. I think that University Healthcare is a pretty good company. I don't know if there are jobs available in his field but I will send you the link for him to look at.

I am in shock about Chuck's job. Well, it is their loss. I can't imagine a better employee than Chuck. David said he heard Ebay was doing restructuring.

Thanks for coming to Benjamin's play. It means a lot.

Scary situation to be in, but so glad that you are prepared to deal with whatever comes your way. We'll keep your family in our prayers. Would you do the same for us? Walt (Adam's Dad) just had a heart attack yesterday and had a stent put in. He's doing fairly well considering how serious it was, but prayers always help!

Barnums in Lock Down We have now been in quarantine for four weeks.  Ruth and Jared are both doing online school, Chuck and Ruth are also ...
